Episodic Television
Michael is currently writing original episodes of the animated television series Handy Manny for the Disney Channel. He is also writing for the new Disney Channel hit Imagination Movers, which made its debut in September 2008. In addition, Michael was chosen to serve as story editor and developer of the upcoming animated action/adventure television series Ajaaj, which is currently in development at Blink studios in Dubai. Michael also authored the stunt spectacular stage show Ajaaj 2020, which brought this popular property to the stage. The show premiered at the Dubai Community Theatre & Arts Centre in August 2008.
Screenwriting
Michael's diverse body of work includes feature-length screenplays, as well as television spec scripts. His original screenplay Tell was optioned by Studio Hamburg, for production as a major televison miniseries, and his animated feature script Arrowflight was optioned by Triumph Pictures. Commissioned scripts include an adaptation of Katherine Paterson's award-winning children's story The Great Gilly Hopkins, for Concord/New Horizons, and a television pilot for the PAX Television Network.
Michael co-wrote the feature script Ghost Dance with long-time writing partner Brian Baker which was optioned by Shutt/Jones productions. On the strength of that work, the pair was commissioned by The Shooting Gallery to create the television pilot Quantico for network television. Michael and Brian have also worked with various production companies such as Jason Alexander’s Angel Ark Productions developing projects for television.
Background
Michael is a published author with more than 20 years of professional writing experience. His authoring credits include Galaxy Guide sourcebooks and adventures detailing the Star Wars Trilogy for Lucasfilm, Ltd., as well as adventure books based on the Ghostbusters film series for Columbia Pictures.
Michael was the writer/director of the independent film A Quality of Madness, which was featured at the Millennium Theater and the Collective for Living Cinema in New York City.
Michael is also the designer of well-known card, board and role-playing games, including the popular collectible card game OverPower for Marvel Comics and Fleer Corporation. Other credits include published works for TSR's Dungeons & Dragons product line as well as Paranoia and TORG for West End Games.
Education
Michael is a graduate of the film school at Bard College, where he earned a BA in screenwriting (1987). He has studied under such notables as Arthur Penn, Robert Wise and avant-garde filmmaker Adolfas Mekas.
